Come and spend a wonderful afternoon with Jesse Bueno. His emphasis will be on building an Asana/Posture from the ground up with proper alignment and explore various transitions to take you to the next level. You will have a wonderful time.
Although this is for all levels you should have some basic knowledge or experience.
Backward bending Asanas/Postures will energize, refresh and invigorate the body- opening the chest, encouraging inhalation and circulation to the heart and lungs. Inverting is said to benefit the cardiovascular, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems. These are often dynamic postures to counter gravity and therefore require and build energy and strength, especially in the wrists, arms, legs, buttocks and spine, while stretching the front of the abdomen, hips, thighs, shoulders and chest. Come and enjoy the benefits of such beneficial Asanas/Postures.

I know what you're thinking I'm "NOT STRONG and/or MUSCULAR" enough, You should know that some postures only require proper alignment and mental strength and maybe rely more on flexibility instead of a massive force to stay off the floor.
As most with Asanas/Postures, once you understand the true foundations of them, they will break down the barriers of any mental challenge, myths and "Impossibilities" and open new doors to a stronger and confident practice. This workshop will build up arm, shoulder, chest, abdomen and back strength – Be prepared to be challenged but by the time this work shop ends you will be able to spread your wings and fly away like eagle.

Several factors contribute to moving your yoga practice forward.
This workshop will start out with a 30 to 45 minute discussion of key elements to growing your yoga practice, and the importance of the Bandhas in taking you there.These key elements will include a discussion of both the mental and physical aspects that prevent or help us engage our Bandhas (Fear, Strength, Discipline, Daily Practice, Body Awareness, Patience, Breath, and Bandhas). The class will then focus largely on the practice of the Bandhas. Laura will help guide you to awareness of these mysterious "locks", teach you how to build "fire" in this area of the body, and take you through a practice with ongoing guidance on using your Bandhas with each posture in the practice. You will be amazed how challenging awareness of and engagement of this area can be when applied regularly in a full practice! Have you ever seen a yogi glide forward from down dog to forward fold effortlessly, or jump back from standing without making a sound, as though he or she is weightless in flight? The Art of Flight is another foundational class for the Advancing Your Yoga Practice Workshop Series. This workshop will start out with a 30 to 45 minute discussion of flight in the yoga practice. This discussion will largely focus on 4 key elements to learning flight: Bandhas, Fear, Strength, and Practice. What is jumping forward? What is jumping back? How does one "jump through"? Why do these small vinyasa elements present such a challenge to us as students? After the discussion and some demonstration, Laura will then turn to guiding you into the beginning of controlled flight through practice. You will come away from this workshop with improved awareness of your own fears and how to overcome them, how to build strength, how to use the Bandhas to fly (don't miss the first workshop!!), and a burning motivation to practice, practice, practice!

Marko is pushing us up against our edge is where we learn the most. What are we doing on the yoga mat if we're not learning? This two hour laboratory jumps, flies, floats, levitates, balances and teeters on that edge. Elevate the physical body through dynamic asana and raise an awareness of the spiritual body through mantra and pranayama. Deepen your time, intention, and focus on the mat and step beyond your edge! Why are we open in one area of the hips but tight in another? Hips, where are you, anyway? This is a fabulous workshop designed to help you the student learn more about yourself through your hips. Through discussion and exploration, we will learn where we are tight or loose in our hips (everyone is different!), how aware or unaware we are of our hips in space, and what emotions we dredge up as we begin to develop increased awareness in this area of our body. This class will start with a discussion and exploration, followed by a practice that is geared toward increasing awareness of our hips in space and opening up those "tight spots" we learned about ourselves at the beginning of the session. Remember, your legs are attached to your hips: what you can or cannot do with your hips will largely influence what you can or cannot do with your legs!!

This workshop is designed for those who long to but yet have not yet found Crow in their practice.
We will explore the basic concepts to arm balancing: Strengh, Bandhas, and Fear. The first 30 to 45 minutes will be spent exploring these basic concepts with the students and the teacher. The remainder of the session will be spent on building the basic foundation to bring students into Crow: How to build shoulder strength, overcoming fear of falling, and the crucial key element of Bandhas in arm balances. Whether students come out of this workshop independently practicing Crow or not, everyone will have the chance to feel themselves balancing on their arms during this workshop!

This workshop is designed for those who have a proficient Crow practice.
We will briefly explore the basic concepts behind arm balancing: Strength, Bandhas, and Fear. The first 30 to 45 minutes will be spent exploring the basic concepts and demonstration. The remainder of the session will be spent on exploring and building your strength, taking your Crow "deeper", jumping out of Crow, jumping INTO Crow (what??!!), and applying the basics of this arm balance to other arm balances. This workshop is not just about learning new arm balances (which is always fun!), it is truly about exploring the strength in your Bandhas and shoulder girdle to lead you into a path of practicing regularly on your hands and arms. Even if you are proficient in many types of arm balances, there will still be much for you to learn during this exciting session that you can apply to your daily practice.

What other backbends are there besides Wheel? Backbends awaken and stimulate our nervous system. Come learn about what is truly involved in Backbending, or, rather, Front Opening! This workshop will help the student explore and deepen his/her Wheel practice. This workshop will also explore standing up from Wheel, entering Wheel from a standing position, Wheel variations, and an introduction to some other deeper backbends and how to approach them. Don't be afraid to fall! In this workshop, we will spend the first 30 to 45 minutes discussing the basics of going Upside Down: What is required? What do we fear? How do we learn this without daily help from the wall or a teacher? The remainder of the workshop we will flow through a practice that emphasizes building strength for and overcoming fear of flipping upside down on the head! Through this practice, you will take home many key practice elements and a new found courage to begin to work toward or regularly practice this posture independently!

This workshop is designed for those students who have a proficient and regular headstand (wall free) in their daily practice. Don't be afraid to fall! In this workshop, we will spend the first 30 to 40 minutes exploring the foundation of the first 2 headstands we as yogis typically learn and how to continue to develop and strengthen these postures. We will then discuss application of these skills to other more challenging inversions, such as headstand variations, forearm balance and handstand. We will then in the last 75 minutes of the workshop do a vinyasa practice that emphasizes new techniques for building strength to move into more challenging inversions. Through this practice, you will learn key elements to take home and practice safely on your own to work toward advancing your inversion practice!

Why does standing on one leg seem so impossible to some and so graceful to others? Why do your feet cramp or your legs shake when you balance? Why are we tempted to hold our breath when balancing? How does our day influence our balancing practice? This workshop will explore elements of balancing on our feet. We will, through a guided self-analysis, learn where we fly and where we crash when we try to grow roots through our feet. The first 30 to 45 minutes of this class will discuss and explore the elements of balancing on our feet: Grounding, Body Awareness, Strengh, Imbalance (in our lives!), and Bandhas. The last 2/3 of the class will be spent in practice with a heavy focus on grounding ourselves through our feet! You will come away from this workshop with a stronger sense of your balance and imbalance and how daily life carries over into this area of your yoga practice. Through increased awareness you can grow stronger and deeper roots!
